After Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, that aired last night, Halsey couldn’t help but talk about some things she noticed representation-wise! Here’s what the singer had to say!
As you may know, the fashion show was actually filmed on November 8, and it included performances from big names such as Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers, Bebe Rexa and Halsey herself!
As for the famous models who walked the runway, some of the most known were there this year, including Kendall Jenner, Gigi, and Bella Hadid, Winnie Harlow, Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima and more!
But Halsey had a problem with the show’s lack of diversity.
‘I’ve adored the Victoria’s Secret fashion show ever since I was young. Performing this year along with other amazing artists and hard working models/friends was supposed to be the best night of my year. However, after I filmed that performance, some comments were made regarding the show that I simply can’t ignore,’ she wrote.
The comments the artist is talking about are most likely Ed Razek’s (Victoria’s Secret Vice-President of public relations).
The man previously got in trouble for basically stating during a Vogue interview that transgender people should not be part of the show.
But while what he said can be interpreted in a different, less offensive way as well, the fact that he used the outdated word ‘transsexuals’ sparked a lot of outrage.
Halsey went on to say in her note that ‘As a member of the LGBTQ community, I have zero tolerance for lack of inclusivity. If you’re a trans person reading this, and the comments made you feel alienated or invalidated, know that you have allies. We stand in solidarity, and total acceptance is the only ‘fantasy’ I support…’
