Motherhood is a very personal journey for every woman who experiences it, regardless if they are a celebrity or not. While many commonalities loom, there are also stark differences depending on the woman. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who is newly engaged to writer Brad Falchuk, recently opened up about motherhood and her amicable but painful divorce with Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin.
Recently, Paltrow opened up about how much she wanted to give her two children, Apple, 14 and Moses, 12, another sibling.
“All I’m saying is it’s not nothing. I really wanted another one,” Paltrow explained during an extensive interview with the New York Times.
Paltrow also revealed that she struggled with the criticism she faced in the wake of her split with Martin.
To describe the split, she used the phrase “consciously uncoupling” which many found in poor taste or insensitive regarding the severity of something like a divorce.
Paltrow said that she and Martin were simply both in a lot of pain and trying to navigate how to still be co-parents and friends despite failing at successfully being romantic partners long term.
She had much confusion over the amount of vitriol she received for that statement.
The actress recalls seeing a tabloid that called her the most hated celebrity shortly after that announcement, but then in the very same week, she was named People’s Most Beautiful Woman.
So she was confused, was she really hated or thought to be most beautiful?
It was a very strange time in her life.
Despite wanting another child, the actress hasn’t said whether or not she’d try at her current age or if that idea has been shelved.
She’ll turn 46 this September. However, more and more celebrities are having babies in their late 40’s and even into their 50’s.
Only time will tell if her desire for another baby will cause her to take that leap.
