Gavin Rossdale has confessed that he did not want to divorce Gwen Stefani, as a matter of fact, he is still going around praising her. In an interview with a British magazine, the artist opened up for the first time about the surprising split from Stefani. The lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Bush and the blonde diva were together for more than 20 years and married for 12 when the romance came crashing down in the summer of 2015.
Rumors circulating claimed that the British rock star had an affair with the nanny – the rumors were never confirmed. In April of 2016, the parents of 10-year-old Kingston Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 2, finalized their divorce and Stefani moved forward with her highly publicized romance with Blake Shelton, her co-star on The Voice.
Mr. Rossdale did an interview last fall, which was published today where he explained that the divorce blindsided him. He told the publication that he tried to save his marriage because he still loved the “What You Waiting For?” artist – but she had no interest in rekindling the flames of love.
He went on to say that after the “Just a Girl” singer had left him, he was confused and it took him a lot of time to reestablish himself. He explained: “[Divorce] was completely opposite to what I wanted. Really not…but here we are. Apart from death, I think divorce is one of the hardest, most painful things to go through.”
Asked if he has any regrets, he shared: “I know we all wish that, but we can’t, so I have to deal with reality. You can’t not have regrets and be human at the same time.”
He went on to praise his ex-wife by saying that he shared 20 great years with her and is thankful that she is the mother of his children. He stated: “We had 20 years together and that in itself is pretty incredible. It’s a lifetime. I still think she’s incredible. It was a lovely 20 years and we have three amazing children. There were a lot of positives, and with time they’ll become more and more obvious.” He added: “The one thing – the only good thing, because everything else is not good – is we care about the children and it’s about them. So we do everything to make this life change as seamless as possible.”
He revealed that he is still single and his boys are always snooping in his phones to see if ladies are texting him. He recently landed a gig as a coach on “The Voice” in his native England.
