The Flash doesn’t appreciate body shaming. The actor that portrays the titular character on the TV show, Grant Gustin, took to social media to slam users who criticized his thin body.
It all started this week when a pic of the actor in costume on the set of the upcoming season leaked.
While many fans just expressed their excitement for season five, others had a few things to say about his appearance.
That being said, users were quick to point out that he may be too thin!
Today, Grant took to social media to shoot back at the haters in a lengthy letter.
‘That’s a terrible photo I was unaware was being taken, much less posted, Some things need work, and they’ll be worked on. We will get there,’ he said about the costume.
He went on: ‘As far as the body shaming. That is what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake. I have had 20+ years of children and adults telling me or my parents I was too thin. I have had my own journey of accepting it. But there is a double standard where it is ok to talk sh*t about a dude’s body. I do my very best to stay in shape and add as much size as I can throughout these seasons. I am naturally thin, and my appetite’s greatly affected by stress.’
The actor also pointed out that it is very difficult for him to gain weight and made it very clear that skinnier men should not receive all of this criticism for the way they look, especially if they can’t help it.
He finished on a more positive note, saying he absolutely loves the new suit and cannot wait for The Flash fans to see it, and the new episodes.
