Charles Manson may be considered the evilest cult leader in U.S history, but that doesn’t mean his grandson doesn’t want to give him a proper burial. Manson passed away from natural causes on November 19, 2017. The 83-year-old leader of The Family had served a life sentence and spent the past 46 years in prison on seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. Diagnosed with gastrointestinal bleeding in January 2017, he was brought to an undisclosed hospital in Bakersfield, California from Corcoran State Prison on November 15, 2017. Four days later he was dead. His grandson, Jason Freeman Manson wants to bury his grandfather and a friend, John Michael Jones set up a GoFundMe account to raise money. Once GoFundMe got word of what the money would be used for they promptly shut the fundraiser down.
The original GoFundMe posting shared the following before it was shut down.
“It is with a heavy heart I must announce, not only have we lost a dear friend & loved one. Charles age 83, but two days prior to Charles’ passing away, his grandson Jason Lee Freeman lost his job. Not only does Jason now have to worry about stepping up to the plate to ensure his grandfather’s remains are laid to rest with the honor, respect & dignity he deserves, but Jason must also bare[sic] the burden of covering all expenses.
“No way will we, his friends, family, loved ones &/or supporters, stand back & watch Jason suffer with the worries of how he’s not only going to feed his family & pay the necessary bills that not only follows ones life but also cover the cost of doing what’s right by his grandfather. “
TMZ was first to break the story.

— TMZ (@TMZ) November 23, 2017
Charles Manson’s grandson Jason Freebird Freeman shared a public post to his Facebook page after GoFundMe shut down the fundraiser.
Jason Freeman Manson is the son of Charles Mason Jr. who committed suicide in 1993. Charles Manson Sr. had at least two more sons who are still living. They have changed their names and it is unknown if they will step in and claim their father’s body.
At this point in time, it appears that Jason Freeman Manson is the only living relative interested in giving Charles Manson a funeral and burial.

What do you think? Do you think if Charles Manson’s family wants to bury him they should be allowed to fundraise without hindrance? Do you agree or disagree with GoFundMe’s decision?
If no one claims Charles Manson’s body within 10 days of his death, which would be November 29, 2017, the State of California will cremate him.
