The outrageous Harvey Weinstein sex scandal has all but ruined his career, and now it seems his alleged behavior could bring down his wife Georgina Chapman’s Marchesa fashion brand, too.
E! News is reporting that Chapman has announced she is divorcing her husband of ten years after the New York Times published an article full of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Weinstein. However, leaving the scandal-ridden producer may not be enough to save her Marchesa brand, because of his association with it.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, one New York fashion publicist said, “No star is ever going to want to wear the brand again.”
Marchesa is known for its fairytale-like evening gowns and wedding dresses, and the label has been a red-carpet staple for over a decade thanks to Weinstein’s Hollywood connections.

Chapman started the company in 2004 with former model Keren Craig, and even though they had little experience as designers, celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Sienna Miller wore the label to major events like the Golden Globes and the Oscars, because of Weinstein’s influence.
This led to the brand owning the red carpet for years to come, with Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, and Renee Zellweger all wearing the brand at various events while promoting a Weinstein Company film.
Meanwhile, Weinstein became a major figure in the fashion world, often sitting beside Anna Wintour at different fashion shows. He also worked to merge the worlds of film and fashion with movies like Prete-a-Porter and the Madonna-directed WE.

The Weinstein Company also brought Project Runway to TV in 2004, which helped lift the curtain on the fashion industry. As of next week’s episode, Weinstein’s name will be removed as an Executive Producer of the reality competition.
Page Six says that Weinstein always used his influence to get what he wanted when it came to promoting Marchesa via the stars of his films, and now that he has been ostracized the brand will pay the price.
Georgina Chapman and Harvey Weinstein began dating in 2004 and then married in December 2007. The couple has two children, son Dashiell who is 4, and daughter India who is 7.
