Apparently, George Clooney is quite the generous guy. Rande Gerber, husband to 90s supermodel Cindy Crawford, revealed that Clooney has a really giving disposition. Gerber and Clooney have been friends for years and created a tequila company named Casamigos which recently was sold for quite the pretty penny.
A couple of years ago, Clooney threw a dinner for his 14 closest guy friends fondly referred to as “the boys.” While everyone was seated around the table and mingling, they were each handed a briefcase filled with $20 bills. $1 million worth of $20 bills to be exact. Very Ocean’s Eleven-style, Clooney.
Clooney then spoke to the group with understanding and empathy by saying that he knows everyone goes through hard times. That he himself had been through many difficult times and he didn’t want his closest friends to have to worry about paying for their kid’s schooling or their mortgages.
So as a gesture of appreciation and friendship he wanted to provide them all with this gift.
The icing on the cake was that Clooney also paid the taxes on each individual $1 million so they all were able to walk away and make use of the entire amount. What a class act and nice guy. Once he had the means to, he helped out his friends.
Interestingly enough, when asked about his career lately, he’s been upfront about not really being interested in acting in movies anymore. He explained that at one time he was trying to make money and that was the course he took. He’s also no longer the guy that “gets the girl” in these films.
Instead, he enjoys his work behind the camera, in the production of a film and the businesses he also gives his time and effort to, one of which being the tequila company.
He doesn’t really feel the need to live life on a movie set all the time. He hasn’t officially retired from acting but if he isn’t seen in a new film for quite some time, it’s clear where that decision stemmed from.
Clooney is married to international rights lawyer Amal and the two just welcomed twins earlier this year, Alexander and Ella.
