Puff puff pass! It seems that Oprah’s BFF is spilling some real tea about the megastar and billionaire’s relaxing habits. Though Oprah has denied currently dabbling with smoking in the past, saying she hasn’t smoked since the 80s, it seems that her bestie Gayle dropped a hint that may not be the case.
While on the Ellen Degeneres show, Gayle was asked if Oprah liked marijuana, King joked that she couldn’t answer that question on the grounds that she didn’t want to “incriminate her.”
She went on to say “it’s not something that happens on the regular…” before promptly changing the subject.
Now that doesn’t sound like something that hasn’t taken place in over three decades.
While the growing and changing discussion around marijuana has been going on for many years, it has recently become relatively understood in mainstream culture.
Oprah was on Watch What Happens Live back in 2013 when she was asked by host Andy Cohen if she smoked weed. Oprah answered that she hadn’t since 1982 but that she’d heard it had gotten much better after Cohen joked that they should “hang out after the show.”
Regardless of if Gayle spilled the beans about a certain proclivity that Oprah has or not, it’s nice to know that she’s a human being just like the rest of us.
No matter her level of success, her money or her notoriety, people still sometimes partake in practices that others don’t agree with or find taboo or harmful.
Many creatives, spiritual gurus, professionals, and celebrities smoke weed on a consistent basis. This idea that it can only be used on those who are sick or uninspired, lazy individuals is simply just not the case.
This will also likely not cause any type of rift between Gayle and Oprah, who have been BFFs for numerous decades now.
