Peter Dinklage is making the rounds promoting his new HBO film, My Dinner with Herve, and recently took time out of his busy schedule to chat about Game of Thrones. The actor, who plays Tyrion Lannister on the drama, was asked about the show’s final season and teased that it will be the best in the history of television — especially when it comes to Tyrion’s ending.
Dinklage assured fans that Season 8 will take them places they never expected and admitted that he was caught off guard by the conclusion. This is good news for fans, especially considering how Season 7 was largely predictable.

The actor also praised producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss for their brilliant writing and revealed that the series ends in a most satisfying way.
According to The Independent, Dinklage was also asked about Tyrion’s journey in Season 8 and whether or not his story ends in a good way.
In response, Dinklage promised that, “It ends beautifully for my character,” before saying, “whether it be tragic or not.” Dinklage did not offer any more details about Tyrion’s fate, leaving fans to guess what he actually meant.
Tyrion has been through a lot of trials and tribulations over the past seven seasons of the fantasy drama. This includes being called a murderer, killing his own father, and journeying across the sea to become the top advisor to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

And yet through it all, Tyrion has managed to survive to the end of each season with only a few scars to show for his trouble. We don’t know if Tyrion will make it out alive after Season 8, but we can hope that he gets a fitting end.
HBO still has not announced an official premiere date for Season 8 of Game of Thrones. Filming for the final season wrapped this summer and the series is expected to return sometime in 2019.
