We are still over a year away from watching the 8th and final season of Game of Thrones, but fans might get a little relief when George RR Martin’s newest book, Winds of Winter, comes out later this year.
Although fans are hopeful that Martin will publish the book in 2018, newly leaked footage sheds a little more light on what will unfold in the HBO show’s final season.
According to Express, a fan shared a video on social media that showed Winterfell being consumed by fire. The huge fireball eclipses the entirety of the Stark home and the inferno looks like something only a dragon could do.
We don’t know the context surrounding the scene, so it is hard to tell what is really going on.

It’s possible that one of Daenerys’s (Emilia Clarke) dragons — either Drogon or Rheagal — burned down the city in the upcoming battle with the Night King and the army of the dead.
It could also be Daenerys’ late dragon turned undead, Viserion, who tore down a section of the wall with blue flames last season.
Either way, it’s clear that Winterfell will be destroyed in the coming season.
The blaze took place on the Game of Thrones set in Northern Ireland. Fire service workers were spotted after the fire ignited, sparking worries that it may not have been intentional.
Although a few emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they did not take any action.
We bring you video of a hugely important scene happening at the Winterfell set. This is by far the bigger SPOILER for #GameofThrones season 8 yet, so exercise extreme caution! https://t.co/Hh8ka3zHRR pic.twitter.com/VIv2GAacor

In addition to the massive ball of flames, over 400 extras were spotted on the Winterfell set, hinting that a major battle will take place at the castle in Season 8. We still don’t know a lot about the fight or who it involved, and we can only hope that all the remaining Starks will make it through all right.
Of course, there is also the possibility that the fireball is a massive ploy to throw fans off the trail. Producers have been known to do similar things in the past, though this would be their most elaborate to date.
Apart from the Winterfell leak, fans can expect a major pregnancy twist in the final season. There has been a lot of speculation that Daenerys got pregnant after hooking up with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) last season.
Daenerys believes that she can no longer have kids after her magical ceremony with Khal Drogo went south, yet many fans believe that she and Jon are destined to have kids, even though they are technically related.
The other pregnancy twist is between Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). In Season 7, Cersei revealed that she is expecting another baby and that Jamie is the father. That said, Cersei could have been lying about the pregnancy to keep Jamie’s loyalty.
Martin is expected to finally release Winds of Winter this year. Season 8 of Game of Thrones, meanwhile, is not scheduled to premiere on HBO until 2019.
