There is no question that it would have been fitting for Netflix to have landed rights to the original Full House series, but it didn’t work out that way.
As the battle rages between Netflix and Hulu, social media networks are beginning to notice the tension. Both Netflix and Hulu are hashtagging things TGIF, Full House, and Fuller House. As Hulu is embracing the entire TGIF programming block with programming such as Full House, Step by Step, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, and Hanging with Mr. Cooper, it seems they have more of a monopoly on the TGIF hashtag.
Both networks are talking about the Full House 30-year-anniversary and both are talking about their shows in relation to celebrate it.
The official Fuller House Instagram is reposting photos from the original Full House cast and it is getting a little confusing.
Both Fuller House and Full House have their fair share of fans and the Fuller House spinoff can stand on its own. It will be interesting to see if the TGIF programming block will be strong enough to inspire new subscriptions.
Original programming has become a staple with streaming services and though Netflix has Fuller House, Hulu has exclusive rights to Full House. Hulu’s most successful program is The Handmaid’s Tale while Netflix’s has been Orange is the New Black.
While Fuller House and Full House are completely different television show than The Handmaid’s Tale and Orange is the New Black, they each have their loyal audiences and followers that will continue to watch on both networks.
