Teen Mom OG producers fired Ryan Edwards from the show earlier this summer, and a new report claims that this is the worst time for him to lose that source of income. Inside sources are reporting that Edwards is in serious debt thanks to tax lien of over $119,000.
A clerk for the Hamilton County Register of Deeds in Tennessee says that back in March, the IRS placed a federal tax lien on Edwards in the amount of $119,416.24. The clerk says that the lien remains unpaid, but an insider says that Edwards claims he paid the debt in April.
Edwards and his wife, Mackenzie Standifer, said that they left Teen Mom OG because MTV didn’t want to “show Ryan as a recovering addict.” His dad Larry confirmed that the couple had not been filming for the upcoming season, but it is still unclear if the network fired Edwards or if he quit.
Since they aren’t getting any more checks from MTV, Standifer has started her own business so the couple can make some money. She recently relaunched her website and has rebranded herself as a wedding an event planner.
On the website header, it reads “Mackenzie Edwards Weddings and Events,” and on the “Meet Me” page she introduces herself to clients but doesn’t mention her time on Teen Mom OG.
“My name is Mackenzie, and I love all things wedding and events. My personal mission is to see your dreams come to fruition,” she wrote in her bio. “Sometimes it can be hard to take all of the thoughts, dreams, and visions in your head and turn them into a reality. That is where I step in. From start to finish, whatever your needs may be, I will be here to help and guide you every step of the way.”
She also writes that the stress from wedding planning can take away from the experience, and she can help create the wedding of a client’s dreams and alleviate the stress, which is a “priceless and winning combo.”
Standifer is offering packages ranging in price from $150 to $1500, and she used pics from her own wedding day as the website’s graphics.
In addition to starting a business, Standifer is also making money by promoting paid ads on Instagram.
Last season, on an episode of Teen Mom OG, Standifer admitted that her husband was spending $10,000 each week on drugs during the height of his addiction, and Edwards’ drug of choice was heroin.
Edwards’ trouble with the law started in March of 2017 when police pulled him over and found 14 hypodermic needles, one of which had heroin in it.
In May of 2017, while driving Standifer to their wedding, MTV cameras caught Edwards nodding off and slurring his words — obviously high on something .
Not long after, he checked himself into rehab, and after going through treatment, Ryan Edwards claimed to be clean and sober. However, he has still had trouble with the law. Police have arrested him twice for violating his probation, and his baby momma Maci Bookout filed a restraining order against him.
New episodes of Teen Mom OG will return to MTV later this year.
