The Charleston County South Carolina Sheriff’s Department arrested former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel earlier this week on charges of assault and battery in the second degree. According to a police report, the arrest comes from an alleged incident that took place in 2015, where Ravenel forcibly raped a female.
Ravenel had announced last month on Twitter that he wasn’t returning to the Bravo reality show for Season 6, and after his arrest, the network confirmed that he wouldn’t be back.
“I’m not doing the show anymore,” Ravenel tweeted in August. “In the contract, they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I’ve decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.”
Woke up to learn that Thomas Ravenel was arrested today and Reese Witherspoon’s favorite show is “Southern Charm.” What glorious witchcraft is in the air today?? pic.twitter.com/1HPVqJwtB1

Ravenel was absent from the Season 5 reunion after two women accused him of sexual assault earlier this summer. Both the police and Southern Charm’s production company, Haymaker, launched investigations into the claims.
Through his lawyer, Ravenel has denied the allegations against him. When the story first broke back in May, Ravenel’s lawyer said that his client “enjoys a certain degree of fame,” and he had unfairly become the target of someone who had “dubious motivations.”
Last season, Ravenel — the former State Treasurer of South Carolina — started dating Ashley Jacobs, and that caused a ton of drama. Ravenel’s ex and baby momma Kathryn Dennis was not a fan of Jacobs, and the two women often found themselves involved in nasty arguments.
Jacobs and Ravenel had been dating for just a few short months before she moved from California to Charleston. And when she got there, she stirred things up by calling out Dennis for things like her past, her sobriety, and her parenting.
Last month, it looked like Ravenel and Jacobs had called it quits, but they have recently been spending time together, and it appears they may have reconciled. Jacobs also posted an apology to Dennis on Instagram after saying that she was “just an egg donor” to her children.
Dennis wasn’t impressed by the apology, and she mocked the content and quality. She also exclaimed, “Are you kidding me?”

In the wake of Ravenel’s arrest, Dennis posted a pic of their two kids, Kensie, 4, and Saint, 2, and added the caption, “Everything in life to me.” In the photo, Kensie smiled while wearing a Miami Dolphins cheerleader outfit, and Saint rocked a blue polo shirt and khakis.
Fans found out in the Season 5 finale that Dennis had received 50/50 custody of the children after she completed rehab and passed multiple drug tests. But, now that Thomas Ravenel is facing some serious legal trouble, it isn’t clear how that will affect their current custody arrangement.
New episodes of Southern Charm will return to Bravo in 2019.
