The former first lady of the United States, Barbara Bush, 92, is currently in critical condition and is refusing medical treatment after being in the hospital several times in the last few months. Bush has been married to the former president, George HW Bush, for the last seventy-three years and is currently at their home in Houston, Texas.
According to a report from CNN, Barbara is fighting against COPD – chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – as well as congestive heart failure.
Her husband was the president of the United States from the last 1980’s up until the middle of the 1990’s.
George Bush, perhaps most famously, is known as the father of George Bush Junior, who is considered by many as one of the worst presidents of all time, mostly for leading his government into the Iraq war.
The decision was widely panned by political figures throughout the world as well as by most of the Hollywood elite. Either way, the Bush’s time in the political chamber of America has come to a close, and Barbara’s health is in trouble.
However, sources close to the Bush family say she is merely accepting the inevitability of death, especially at her age. Bush is currently looking at being as comfortable as possible, rather than trying to prolong her life.
Happy International Women's Day, with a special nod to our First Ladies. The @thebushcenter's new exhibit, “First Ladies: Style of Influence,” highlights every First Lady from Martha Washington to Melania Trump, and examines how first ladies have used their position to take on important causes, set strong examples, and provide invaluable leadership. #iwd2018 #styleofinfluence
In a statement released on the behalf of the Bush family, they wrote, “she’s surrounded by the family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she’s receiving.”
As you may know, Barbara is the only American woman alive who’s son and husband was a president of the United States. Barbara has two grandchildren, Jenna Bush Hager, and Barbara Bush Junior.
