We haven’t heard much from former Counting On stars Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard recently, but it looks like the last few months may have been a bit stressful for the couple. Now, a new report claims their marriage could be on the rocks thanks to one of Duggar’s recent Instagram posts.
This past week, the mother-of-two posted a pic of a book titled Letters to My Daughter: The Art of Being A Wife, along with the caption, “I’m loving this book.” The Amazon description of the tome says that author Barbara Rainey “knows firsthand the challenges newly married couples face.”
So, she wrote the book because she believed there was a need for an experienced voice to encourage and coach women. Rainey is not a fan of how Hollywood depicts marriage and promotes the easy solution of divorce when things get difficult.
As In Touch Weekly points out, Duggar does have plenty of reasons to be angry with her husband. After posting a transphobic rant on Twitter last fall towards fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings, the network fired him from Counting On. As an act of solidarity, Duggar decided to follow Dillard and leave the show herself.
But even though it cost him his job and their family an income, Dillard hasn’t been able to keep his mouth shut. In April, he went after the stars of Nate & Jeremiah by Design – Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent –, calling their show a “travesty of family.” He also wrote that the blatant liberal agenda is celebrating lifestyles “degrading to children.”
A few weeks later he went after the cast of Lost In Transition, writing that he hopes the show portrays the devastation of mental illness instead of presuming that transgender people are evidence of an improving society.
It is quite possible that Duggar doesn’t completely agree with her husband and his controversial views. In May she wrote on Instagram that “To disagree doesn’t equal hate or judgment. Love doesn’t always equal approval.” The 27-year-old has never spoken directly about her husband’s controversial social media activity, and instead she keeps things pretty cryptic.

However, some fans believe that if Dillard proposed to Duggar today, she would say no. But, even if that was true, the couple will not divorce because that is not an option in their conservative family.
Since leaving Counting On, Duggar has been trying to build her own brand independent of her family’s reality show by posting pics and videos, recipes, mommy tips, etc. on Instagram and her blog.
New episodes of Counting On — without Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard — premiere Monday, July 30th on TLC.
