It doesn’t look like the war of words between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dana White is going to die down anytime soon. Floyd must have read our report on Dana saying that he needs the $25 mil to pay for his lavish lifestyle, because he has just responded with some venom of his own.
Floyd, who was at the Barclays center last weekend, trashed Dana’s offer once again, before proceeding to call him a “small boss” and saying that he used to carry his bags.
Dana took a stroll down memory lane, reminiscing about one of his past encounters with the UFC president. He stated that Dana was a player and a boss, but just a “small boss”. He stated that the big bosses were the Fertittas – the owners of the UFC.
He went on to emphasize his point by saying that the Fertittas chose to sell the UFC (for $4 billion last year), and that Dana was just a regular employee.
The former professional boxer, stated that he likes Dana and has no problem with him, but he remembers when Dana White used to hang around him and his uncle, Jeff Mayweather, and carry his bags.
He stated that he always showed Dana love, but all of a sudden Dana cut his hair bald and now he’s such a tough guy. He finished by asking a very interesting question, why does Dana, an employee, make more money than Conor McGregor who goes out there and fights?
Floyd’s question about Dana making more money than Conor is mind games in its purest form. Mayweather set a precedence when he showed that a fighter could make way more money by being their own boss, something that was thought to be impossible before him.
Will this play on Conor McGregor’s mind going forward? Only time will tell.
