According to new reports, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will start working on the next Bill & Ted film in January 2019. Hollywood has been filled with rumors of a possible sequel, but, for the most part, they were just that, rumors.
However, studios confirmed the news earlier in the year, and Keanu and Alex announced they would return as the title characters, Ted Logan and Bill Preston. Both Keeanu and Alex have stayed out of the public spotlight in recent years, with Alex focussing on his skills as a director and Keanu starring in independent movies.
The first two movies are considered as cult classics, so understandably, fans are happy to hear that there is a new movie coming down the tubes. Reportedly, the new film will feature Bill and Ted as they struggle with getting older and knowing that they never will get into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Bill and Ted then discover they can, once again, travel through time and change their future. A report from Omega Underground says the production will kick off on the 10th of January 2019, but no one knows where they intend to start filming.
And while it may be great news that a new movie is coming out, it will be a struggle to modernize the style of comedy, as many years have gone by since the original franchise.
One of the primary writers of the story explained that the movie won’t be easy because America’s sense of humor has changed significantly from the release of the original film.
In an interview, the writer explained, “we’re in a very different time to when the first two ‘Bill And Ted’ flicks were released.” Because of the change of the cultural landscape, they can’t resort to the same style of jokes and humor.
Moreover, William Sadler might reprise his role as the fan-favorite character, Death, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
