Fellow #MeToo Advocate Mira Sorvino Comments On The Recent Asia Argento Case

Hollywood actress, Mira Sorvino, is not pleased to hear about her fellow #MeToo warrior, Asia Argento, who allegedly paid off a former child star after having sex with him when he was a minor. The 50-year-old actress said, “I am reeling from the recent news.”
The actress said she is currently “hoping against hope that it’s not true,” following the surfacing of the photograph of 37-year-old Asia laying in bed with a 17-year-old boy.
Interestingly, Asia and Bennett knew each for a long time, as Asia knew him as an actor when he was just growing up. Perhaps, this is what makes the sexual assault allegations so insidious.
As fans of the actress know, Sorvino is tied to Asia in relation to their joint accusations of abuse against the now-disgraced producer, Harvey Weinstein, who is currently on trial for two charges of assault and one charge for rape.
Additionally, he is facing off against a number of civil lawsuits, which, even if he wins the criminal court case, will probably end up bankrupting him. In Sorvino’s statement, she added, “I have been heartsick over the recent allegations against Asia Argento.” The actress said she hopes that later details will exonerate her.
Having just touched down from several weeks abroad, I am reeling from the recent news. Although hoping against hope that it is not true, here are my current thoughts: pic.twitter.com/8oOF3LmHLQ

On Sunday, August 19th, the New York Times published the story on Asia, 42, claiming she paid Bennett $380,000 to hush Bennett, who is now 22-years-old.
The actress supposedly made Anthony Bourdain pay him the money in late 2017, right around the same time when she was accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. Bourdain coincidentally killed himself approximately a year later.
Bennett, who had a role in her 2004 movie, The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, claims that she gave him alcohol and performed oral sex, before climbing on top of him to have sex in 2013.
At the time, he was 17-years-old, and she was 37-years-old. The age of consent in the state it occurred is 18-years-old. Just a few hours after her statement came out denying the charges, TMZ published a selfie that they had taken when they were in bed.
