Things aren’t going well for the Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta star, Stevie J, as federal prosecutors are itching for him to sit in a jail cell for violating his probation in relation to his child support case. Attorneys for the US government want Stevie J to suffer for his misbehavior in the last year.
In a report from the New York Daily News, the reality star is accused of avoiding payment to the mother of his two kids for over a dozen years, thirteen to be exact.
Stevie now has to pay $1.3 million as part of his February 2015 plea deal. Sources close to the star explained, “Stevie isn’t happy about what’s happening to him right now, but then again, if you violate the law and don’t support your children, then what hope is there for you?”
“The sad part is that he probably doesn’t understand why what he did is wrong. It’s a result of a poor upbringing I think.”
Moreover, the Assistant US Attorney, Kathleen Reilly, claimed the Love & Hip-Hop star missed drug tests and skipped out on a substance abuse therapy session.
To make matters worse, Stevie has failed to give financial information to his probation officer. The government lawyer said there is a pattern of “non-compliance,” and it’s a grave concern to the people overseeing his case.
The judge, Paul Crotty, will determine if Stevie needs to go to prison next month. Xavier Donaldson said in court that sending him to jail wouldn’t help with anything, because then he wouldn’t be able to pay off his debts.
Xaxier said the only way for him to make money is if he’s “out here doing shoots,” but if he’s locked up, he can’t make money. It’s as simple as that.
