Wendy Williams continues to create controversy with each and every one of her show’s episodes. This time around, the TV host went so far as to slam R. Kelly’s supposed victims as well as the #MeToo movement as a whole. As you can imagine, a lot of people are fuming!
During her Hot Topics segment, Wendy told her audience that she is ‘sick’ of the #MeToo movement.
But the good news is that, at least according to Wendy, the whole thing is pretty much over.
‘I love people are speaking up for the first time, but I look at all men like you are a ‘me too’ All of them, all of them, which is not fair,’ she started.
In addition, she also talked earlier in the show about the infamous R. Kelly sexual abuse scandal, claiming that the man’s victims cannot really consider themselves as part of #MeToo! Um…why not?
The star was initially accused of assaulting many underage kids over the past 20 years or so.
Not too long ago, the man started making headlines again after a few women accused R.Kelly of holding them in a sex cult.
The women are now fighting to get his music off the Atlanta radio and eventually snub him from the music industry altogether.
But despite their traumas and suffering for years, it sounds like Wendy Williams is still questioning whether or not they deserve to be part of the #MeToo movement.
‘What is this, ten years too late? The #MeToo movement has not affected R. Kelly. R. Kelly was not a ‘Me Too.’ Aaliyah voluntarily married him when she was 15 years old. Her parents voluntarily let her do it,’ Williams said on her show.
That has literally nothing to do with the fact that other very young girls and women accused him of similar crimes against them.
Besides, even if Aaliyah and her parents did consent to marry him, she was just a teen and didn’t know any better, but he did!
Fans were, of course, outraged and took to social media to slam Wendy.
‘I heard what Wendy said and was disgusted by it. This is why Black women are hesitant about coming forward with their #metoo stories because of Black women like @WendyWilliams who blame the victims. You really think a 13-year-old girl is to BLAME for sex with a 30+ y.o. man?’ one comment read.
‘I guess Wendy Williams mansplaining the #MeToo movement was the last straw for some people,’ other slammed Wendy.
‘Wendy Williams just signed her own cancellation,’ yer another fan’s comment read.
