No one defends celebrities more than their dedicated fans. Nicki Minaj recently released images from her photoshoot for the cover of Paper Magazine and many people had conflicting opinions about it. The new addition to “The Talk” cast, Eve, gave her two cents and it backfired.
On an episode of “The Talk.” Eve commented on the Nicki Minaj photos claiming: “As I’ve gotten older … I’d just rather be a voice that’s uplifting… I can be a voice for those girls that might not have a voice, in a different way without showing myself off … For the Nicki fans, I love her, respect her. Go women in hip hop. It’s not my thing. I just don’t think it’s right. Personally. Period. That’s it.”
To be fair, Eve wasn’t intentionally taking a jab at the “Rake It Up” singer, she was asked about it. However, the Barbz thought otherwise.
When gossip blog Fameoulous posted the Eve clip, they came back with ammo of their own.
The fans were quick to remind Eve that she was once a stripper. They took it a step further to bring up her leaked sex tape with ex-boyfriend and “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” star Stevie J.
Eve has since turned her life around and married a billionaire which included her being a stepmother to his multiple children. She’s certainly shown growth but some of Nicki’s stans insist that she was being hypocritical.
Once Eve caught wind of the backlash she released a statement on Twitter that read: “A lot of ya’ll need to calm down AND LISTEN to what I said. I am speaking from the place I am TODAY as WOMAN and how I feel NOW!!!”
Nicki Minaj has not spoken about the drama.
Do you think that Eve was being a hypocrite or was she merely stating her opinion?
