Several publications reported previously that Eva Marcille, the winner of America’s Next Top Model, defended Russell Simmons following the half-dozen list of women who accused him of rape, assault, and sexual harassment.
However, now that her defense of the former Def Jam Records owner has percolated in the mainstream media for a couple of days, people have figured out there may be a reason why she’s defending him.
Reportedly, Eva’s boyfriend, Michael Sterling, will defend Russell Simmons amid the allegations which forced Russell to step down from his businesses.
Some people on social media commented that Eva’s remarks were relatively random, but reports show she and Simmons are related after all. According to the Jasmine Brand, E. Carlos Tanner will also defend Russell along with Sterling.
As you may know, Russell’s misconduct problems began after Keri Claussen Khalighi’s claims against Ratner and Simmons in 1991 resurfaced in the media.
Following these reports, other women accused Brett Ratner in the process, and he left all of his projects related to Warner Brothers Studios.
Marcille said people have been too “quick” to attack Russell just because of someone, somewhere, said something. After Claussen’s claims were re-reported in the media, Jenny Lumet accused Simmons of coercing her into sex as well.
Just a few weeks after, HBO announced they would drop all of their Russell Simmons programs including his stand-up comedy specials.
In response to the deleterious case against the music mogul, Russell proclaimed his innocence and stated throughout his years, he has been nothing but respectful to women, and all of his relationships have been consensual. Russell is just one of many men to experience allegations such as these as of late, with Mario Batali – the celebrity chef – being one of the most recent.
