Actress, director, and activist Eva Longoria has had many roles over the span of her life but she’s recently stepped into her most critical and important role yet: the role of mother. The 43-year-old actress is enjoying some splendid baby bliss as she cuddles up to her newborn son. The baby looks to be neatly swaddled in a light green baby wrap carrier.
Longoria, who gave birth on June 19, referred to her son as an “angel” in the caption.
He does look quite angelic and peacefully at home in the arms of his mother.
Santiago is the first child for Longoria, though her husband Jose Baston has three children from a previous marriage. Little Santiago was 6 lbs and 13 oz. when he was born.
It was actually her relationships with her stepchildren that prompted Longoria to consider having a biological child.
For years, she thought that perhaps she wouldn’t and her feelings changed once she became close to her stepchildren.
As someone who feels passionately about the matters of society and the world at large, Longoria has been a strong presence in Hollywood’s Time’s Up movement that works to give a voice and resources to women who are victims of sexual assault.
She spoke up immediately after her son’s birth to condemn the separation of families and made a staunch plea to reunite all children who had been taken from their parents.
Longoria explained the relevance by highlighting her current motherhood saying “in light of” her son’s birth, she couldn’t imagine being separated from him or him being taken from her arms under the guise of “law.”
Santiago also wore his own little specialized jersey to root for Mexico during the World Cup.
In his few short weeks of life, he’s had quite the fun and love filled days, may that only continue.
Congratulations to Longoria and her husband on their newest addition to the family.
