Maya Hawke is no stranger to Hollywood, but the 19-year-old daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman is beginning to make a name for herself in acting. With a new repeat role in Netflix’s Stranger Things and appearing in the television special Little Women, Maya Hawke is embarking upon a promising acting career.
Ethan Hawke took his daughter with him to the Independent Spirit Awards and the response to Maya’s striking resemblance to her mother was overwhelming. Fans took to social media and left numerous comments calling Maya Hawke Uma Thurman’s doppelganger.
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman were married from 1998 until 2005. The couple has two children: Maya born in 1998 and a son, Levon who was born in 2002. Like Maya, Levon has stayed out of the public spotlight. It’s unclear whether he will pick up the acting bug once he hits 18.
It was easy to see that Ethan Hawke is proud of his daughter’s accomplishments. Ethan and Maya walked the Spirit Awards’ Red Carpet and posed for pictures.
The star of Training Day, Boyhood, and Before Sunrise has been nominated for four Oscars and Uma Thurman was nominated for the best-supporting-actress Oscar for her role in Pulp Fiction. As the daughter of two Oscar-nominated actors, there is great anticipation for Maya’s career.
The Awards were held in Santa Monica and at 19-years-old, Maya chose an age-appropriate Zac Posen floral print dress that looked sensational on the Red Carpet. She and her father shared photos of the pair on the beach as well.
While there was plenty of activity going on at the Spirit Awards, the fact that Maya Hawke stood out and captured attention is more indication that her career is ready to kick into overdrive.
Her work on the BBC’s Little Women as Jo March drew critical acclaim and Maya will play the role of Robin in Stranger Things season 3.
