Ellen Pompeo Reveals Long-Running ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Will Come To An End Sometime Soon

Although powerhouse TV mogul Shonda Rhimes has agreed to continue with ABC, hit Grey’s Anatomy, for as long as star Ellen Pompeo wants, Pompeo recently revealed that the end might be closer than we think.
The show has just been renewed for its 15th season, which makes it the longest-running drama show in ABC network’s history.
The actress just secured a mathom contract of $20 million for the next season of the show.
Pompeo revealed that she and Rhimes will make that decision together but that the end will be sooner than later. Pompeo says that being on the show for nearly 15 years has taught her so much about her own life and the people in it.
She says just like any friendship or relationship, they take work and people change. She’s learned that many people are worth that effort and holding yourself accountable for flaws is pertinent to growth.
Pompeo is a mother of three, and she looks forward to taking a break from acting to focus on motherhood. She says she wants to be more present as her children get older because the world is such a hectic, crazy place.
Pompeo does have an idea how the show will end, but she’s not giving away any hints as of yet.
She also addressed the departure of Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew from the show, which caused a bit of a stir on social media. Pompeo explains that with a show like Grey’s, which has been running for such a long time, anytime they lose someone it’s devastating.
At this point, they’ve lost so many different characters to death or relocation that no one character is safe.
Despite this pattern, many fans accused Pompeo and her new contract for being the reason Capshaw and Drew were being let go. That simply wasn’t the case.
Pompeo says that because they’ve all been together for so long, they’ve become a makeshift family. They’ve seen each other through births and deaths and the range of emotions that takes place when someone’s time on the show comes to an end is vast.
