Back in 2015, Ed Sheeran made an announcement to the world that surprised everybody. The “Shape Of You” crooner said he would get rid of his telephone and all of his social media for a good long while.
Ed wrote on Instagram that it would be best for him to back away from his social media presence as well as his iPhone for a while because lately, he had been finding himself looking at a screen too much.
The singer – who, at the time, was busy touring the world and recording albums – decided it would be best for him to travel the planet and see everything he had missed.
Sheeran said he spent the last half-decade looking “through a screen.” After one year, Ed revealed what he had learned during his detoxification.
When the singer appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier in the year, he revealed one of the leading factors for his leaving social media and technology, in general, was to reduce his stress.
Sheeran stated that he merely uses an Ipad with an email that way he doesn’t have to answer the plethora of people all asking him for handouts.
After he came back to the grid, he said life is all about “balance,” and Ed felt as though he no longer had that. Additionally, Sheeran announced back in July that he had to leave Twitter because of the cascade of internet trollers.
While speaking with reporters from The Sun, Ed said he “goes on it” but it’s, usually, nothing but people bashing each other, and one comment can ruin an entire day. With that said, Sheeran decided against deleting his Instagram much to his fan’s glee.
