On Thursday night, Dwayne Johnson sat down with Andy Cohen on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, and he dished on his relationship – or lack thereof – with Tyrese Gibson, the actor he feuded with. Tyrese and The Rock have co-starred in the Fast And The Furious franchise for the last ten years.
As fans of The Rock know, Tyrese criticized him several times in the past, mostly for getting his own spin-off of Fast And The Furious, based on the character, Hobbes, from the original franchise.
Gibson accused him of “making it all about him,” therefore prolonging the filming and subsequent release of Fast 9. Tyrese blamed Johnson for it all, but for the most part, Dwayne stayed silent and refused to engage in the social media battle.
He didn’t talk badly about Gibson even once, and so it primarily became a one-sided feud. On Andy Cohen’s show, the actor stated he and Tyese haven’t spoken at all. Johnson said he was very disappointed because he and Tyrese had been friends for a long time.
But Gibson continued to trash him, and Dwayne didn’t say a word. You can check out the video where Dwayne explains himself and the beef below:
While it’s easy to judge Gibson for his social media tirade, it turns out that he had a number of different problems at the time, in addition to taking pharmaceutical drugs which allegedly produced adverse side effects.
As it turns out, Gibson was going through financial problems at the time due to divorcing his wife, as well as having expensive habits, including a fully functioning Starbucks in his home that wasn’t even open to the public.
According to the reports from the gossip publication, TMZ, they got their hands on documents that state Tyrese was spending $105,686 a month, significantly more than he had been making. Not only did he have a Starbucks in his home, he also owned a Behiana situated in his Beverly Hill house. To make matters worse, the Fast alum also owed $133,750 to his lawyer.
