Disgraced former reality star Josh Duggar made a rare appearance on social media this past weekend when his wife Anna posted a video on Instagram of the family celebrating his 30th birthday, and the family gave him a shoutout on their official Facebook page. But even though it appears that his family has forgiven him for his molestation and cheating scandals – fans have not. And, they let them know all about it with their comments.
Radar Online is reporting that Anna’s video featured the family (including Jessa and Jill, two of his victims) singing Happy Birthday to Josh. When the song was over, Anna kissed Josh and told him she loved him.
Anna captioned the post, “Happy birthday, Josh! I’m so thankful for the 30 years of life God has given you. I love you.”
On the family Facebook page, Jim Bob and Michelle posted a series of photos of Josh as a child and captioned them with a message of love and support.
We had a great time at Josh’s birthday party yesterday! Josh & Anna have been blessed with 5 wonderful children and they…
“Happy 30th birthday to our firstborn son, Josh! It seems like yesterday that you made us parents. We are thankful for your continued journey with the Lord, and we look forward to many more years and happy memories with you,” wrote the Duggar parents.
The celebration sent fans into an uproar because the family seems to be overlooking Josh’s scandals, actions many find to be unforgivable.
One person commented that Anna is brainwashed into not believing in divorce and it is disgusting that she stayed with him, while another wrote that people need to stop defending his actions.
The pictures of Josh with his younger sisters that he molested also upset fans, with one commenting that it made their skin crawl and another calling it “creepy.”
It was just a little over two years ago that a police report surfaced that Josh molested five girls, including four of his sisters, when he was a teenager. On top of that, Ashley Madison, a website that promotes infidelity, named him as a client during a data breach.
As a result, TLC canceled 19 Kids & Counting, and Josh lost his job as a lobbyist for the Family Research Council. He then went to a Christian-based rehab program to help him with his sex and pornography addiction.
To many fans’ surprise, Anna decided to stay with him instead of getting a divorce. And, once he finished with his rehab, the couple welcomed their fifth child, a son named Mason.
But, even though the family seems to have put the whole scandal behind them, it’s still a nasty memory for many fans, and they have no tolerance for the family featuring him on their social media accounts.
New episodes of Counting On, starring a majority of the Duggar family, air Monday nights on TLC.
