Drew Barrymore admitted that nowadays, her career falls second to her family. The actress opened up about motherhood and how it is both a blessing and a curse to have kids.
The star is the mom of 3-year-old Frankie, and 5-year-old Olive with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, and the two daughters take up all of her time.
‘I’m a really hard worker. When I had my two kids, I put acting on the back burner because I wanted to be able to be a mom. I had been acting my whole life, so it felt like no sacrifice to back away from it for a few years so I could be there to raise my children. I am also not the kind of person who can do nothing, so it felt like a good time to develop my other business ventures and dictate my own hours,’ Barrymore revealed.
And according to the Hollywood star, the fact that she had quite a troubled childhood made her want to be the best mother possible.
‘I’ll post pictures of my kids on Instagram but I never really show their faces. I try to be careful with that. I think children should be off-limits to the paparazzi. It is a mother’s curse and blessing to care this much about their kids. Every parent probably feels this way: like it is never enough, and you want to do more. I know I am working hard, but when my children are first in my life that is when I have the balance right,’ she explained.
As fans probably know, Drew and the girls’ dad, Will Kopelman put an end to their four years long marriage back in 2016.
However, we hear that they are on really good terms.
Besides, they both live in New York, so he is probably a big part of his kids’ lives.
