Even though Drake is from Toronto, Canada, he still has a thing or to say about the president, Donald Trump. During a three-night show at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Toronto-native shared his opinion on the controversial politician.
According to a report from Stereogum, Drake took the stage and claimed the media and the political establishment are claiming the country is “divided,” and that the public “doesn’t understand unity.”
Referring to Donald, “this idiot in office that’s tryna tell us that something’s going on.” As you may know, currently, Trump and Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, are negotiating over the NAFTA deal – a political agreement that the derided political figure claims has taken jobs away from Americans and given them to Mexico and Canada.
Just this past week, political pundits and the media took Trump to task because he claimed he didn’t want to negotiate with the country to the north. The president took aim at the way in which the publication reported his comments.
Trump said he thought the remarks were off the record, but they later were given to the Toronto Star. Trump said he couldn’t “believe that Bloomberg violated an off the record statement.”
The president wondered aloud to himself if they would “put out an apology?” Additionally, he claimed the Canadian government has taken advantage of Americans.
Drake called attention to some of Trump’s political rhetoric, stating that in Brooklyn, for instance, there are 16,000 people of all races and cultures enjoying themselves and “listening to music.”
The rapper said he was proud of his audiences for standing together, because “this is how the f*cking world is supposed to work.” Drake is just one of many performing artists who’ve criticized Donald Trump, one of his most vocal critics in the rap game is Joey BadA*$.
