This is outrageous! The president of the United States accused Democrats of faking the tragedy that took place in Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria!
Apparently, Donald Trump is convinced 3000 Americans losing their lives because of the natural disaster is nothing but a hoax to make him look bad. What?!
The commander in chief took to Twitter very early this morning to shock everyone with his rant about the deaths.
He claimed that the death count during last year’s disaster has been overblown with one clear goal in mind – to discredit him as Hurricane Florence is reaching mainland US’s East Coast.
‘3000 people didn’t die in the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left, AFTER the storm had already hit, they had anywhere from six to eighteen deaths. As time went by, it did not go up by that much. Then, a long time later, they began to report large numbers, like 3000…,’ one tweet reads.
He went on to say that ‘…..This was done by Democrats to make me look bad when I was raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any given reason, such as old age, just add them to the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!’
Now this is another lever of outrageous claims even for Trump!
The reason why the president is so confused about the total number of deaths caused by Hurricane Maria is that the estimated 2,974 includes the later victims who passed away from complications after the hurricane, such as the heat.
At the time he visited, the number of deaths may not have been this large, but Trump is not taking into consideration the time that has passed since then.
Not to mention that even today, parts of Puerto Rico are still struggling without water or electricity, which continues to put thousands of lives in danger.
