If you’ve been watching the news, then you know that Tom Price, Secretary of Health and Human Services for the U.S.A. resigned on Friday. President Donald Trump wasted absolutely no time in naming an acting secretary to help this critical department. The new acting secretary is Don Wright.
The White House has seen at least nine people in leadership positions at the White House either resign or get fired under President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Some could certainly say this is an innovative time that calls for a lot of change. Others may be concerned that decisions are being made too hastily. The most recent one affects the Health and Human Services department which may affect so many in this country.
But Don Wright clearly has an experienced background for a leadership role. Wright is a physician, specializing in family medicine. He switched careers from medicine to working within the federal government about 14 years ago.
The first president that he worked under was President George W. Bush and this is not his first leadership role. Don Wright has served as a senior executive with the federal government in the past.
Many are watching Wright’s appointing as the acting secretary, to see if he will be chosen for the official position.
After Tom Price was terminated on Friday, President Donald Trump wasted absolutely no time, as Wright’s official appointment began at 11:59 p.m. on that same Friday.
Don Wright has had a dedicated career in public service with a strong focus on public health, as well as disease prevention, health care quality, and health promotion.
Prior to his recent promotion, Wright has worked as the deputy assistant secretary, and also the Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
