Alternative facts or as President Donald Trump would put it, who cares?
After forcing Sen. Elizabeth Warren to take a DNA test to prove her Native American heritage, Trump now denies that he ever offered to donate $1 million to a charity if she did so.
The only problem is that there is a video of the former reality TV star saying it.
At a fiery campaign rally on July 5, Trump, who has been mocking Warren for years by calling her Pochantas, said this to a cheering crowd of supporters and fans: “I will give you a million dollars, to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian. I have a feeling she will say ‘no.'”
Hold on there is more. Trump said the following in a tweet a few months ago: “I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian.”
The politician from Massachusetts, who is mulling the idea of running for president against Trump in 2020, shared a video that revealed the results of a test proving her Native American heritage.
After releasing the mini-documentary about Warren’s life, her campaign tweeted: “NIWRC is a nonprofit working to protect Native women from violence. More than half of all Native women have experienced sexual violence, and non-Natives perpetrate the majority of violent crimes against Native Americans. Send them your $1M check, @realDonaldTrump.”
Trump was taken off guard while on the South Lawn on Monday morning when reporters asked him about the clip.
Trump responded by: “Who cares?” When quizzed about $1 million donations, he lied by saying: “I didn’t say that. You better reread it.”
He went on to say that he is eager to run against Warren: “I hope she’s running for president because I think she would be very easy. I hope that she is running. I do not think she would be difficult at all. She’ll destroy the country. She’ll make our country into Venezuela. With that being said, I don’t want to say bad things about her because I would hope that she would be one of the people that would get through the process. It’s going to be a long process for the Democrats.”
Time will tell if Waren can keep up in a fight against the Twitter machine that is Trump.
