Donald Trump and Madonna have a lot in common, but they cannot seem to agree on much these days. It first started with the pop music legend telling the crowd at the Women’s March on Washington Saturday that she wanted to blow up the White House because she hates the 45th U.S. president so much. The US Secret Service was alarmed by the statement and immediately launched an investigation. The “Material Girl” singer then took to social media to say that she is all about love and the “blow up” comment was just a metaphor.
Trump supporters feel that a line had been crossed and spent the next few days slamming the controversial “Like a Virgin” artist. Madonna did not get much support in the media, and most liberals abandoned her on this one. Trump remained silent for the past few days and even resisted the urge to tweet about the situation.
It is safe to say that the new president was just waiting for the right venue to hit back. Trump has never backed away from a fight for headlines. Thursday night, the New York business mogul sat down with one of his favorite interviewers, Fox News’ Sean Hannity, and the Madonna incident was discussed.
Here is what Mr. Trump thinks of Madonna’s remarks: “Honestly, she’s disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole cause.” He also added: “I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country.”
Fans of Mr. Trump love this kind of red meat; it remains to be seen if those in the middle will follow suit.
