No matter what former Counting On star Jill Duggar posts on Instagram these days, it’s bound to cause some controversy. And, this past week, the 26-year-old once again shared some things that caused an immediate backlash. Will Duggar ever be able to do something that won’t send her fans into an uproar?
According to In Touch, one of Duggar’s most recent missteps occurred when she got a craving for Chick-Fil-A while in Colorado Springs with her husband, Derick Dillard, and her two boys, Israel, 2, and Samuel, eight months.
Duggar decided to kill some time while waiting for Dillard – who was away helping some people from church –, so she took her infant sons for a long walk to the popular fast food chain and snapped some pics of their adventure.
While Duggar seemed to enjoy her time in the beautiful Colorado weather, her 2-year-old appeared to be exhausted and not happy with the trip, and fans immediately took notice.
One angry follower wrote that the kids didn’t appear to be having any fun, and Duggar didn’t bother to put hats on her kids to shade them from the hot sun. Another felt the same and questioned Duggar’s choice to walk an hour near the highway without protection from the sun for fast food, while praising her mommy skills.
But, even though the haters made a lot of noise, Duggar received twice as many messages of support. One encouraging fan wrote that Duggar was a wonderful mom for getting some exercise and spending time with her boys while enjoying the Colorado sights.
Of course, Duggar’s journey to Chick-Fil-A wasn’t the only thing that caused a stir this past week. The former reality star also posted some recipes on her blog that she attempted to pass off as her own, but fans quickly noticed that she copied them from other websites.
It started when Duggar posted a recipe for stuffed zucchini, describing it as being her husband’s favorite. She explained that after she got married a neighbor gave her a bunch of big zucchini, and as she tried different recipes, she adapted them into her own.
That description made it sound like Duggar had made her own creation, but fans realized that the recipe was a verbatim copy of a meal on the All Recipes website. They immediately called her out for plagiarism, and once the backlash set in, Duggar added a recipe and photo credit to All Recipes, without a link.
But, there were two other recipes that appeared to be stolen, including a slow chicken mole recipe from Chowhound and a riguas recipe from Salvadorian Recipes.
You would think as much as Duggar fans analyze and dissect every social media post from members of the family, the mom of two would be a little more careful about the things she shares with fans that she tries to make her own.
New episodes of Counting On, again without Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard, return to TLC later this summer.
