As the clear majority of Counting On fans know by now, TLC fired Derick Dillard from the show last fall after his transphobic tirade on Twitter against fellow network star Jazz Jennings. But, instead of confessing to any wrongdoing and taking his lumps like a man, Dillard decided to throw a tantrum and convince his wife Jill Duggar to quit the show along with him. Now, the family has no source of income, but according to Dillard, he does have a day job – as a full-time supporter of President Trump.
He may not have worked in the past six months, but instead of seeking employment, it looks like the 29-year-old is spending his days agreeing with the controversial President.
The Hollywood Gossip is reporting that Dillard is “one of those people who are convinced that politicians who hate poor people are totally gonna make an exception for them.”

Most of the Duggar family kept quiet during the 2016 election, but Dillard’s love of Trump was part of many of his social media posts during that time. And, apparently, his love hasn’t died because this week he made an Instagram post that left some fans up in arms.
In the post, Dillard included a pic of his 3-year-old son Israel playing with building blocks and a toy excavator, and added the caption, “Israel is helping Trump build ‘The Wall” LOL.”
Of course, the backlash started immediately. One follower commented that they were shocked that someone who preaches love is so racist and added that the post reflected poorly on Dillard and his family.
Another wrote that they would love to know why a “missionary” who talks about his love for Jesus would be promoting pure hatred. And a third commented that they were pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t be building walls since he was washing the feet of those less fortunate and telling people to love each other. They concluded by writing that it is sad Dillard promotes Christianity but doesn’t follow it.
The Duggar fan base is overwhelmingly conservative, but what Dillard doesn’t seem to understand is that many of them are smart enough to know that Trump is far from conservative. Spending $1 billion on a wall – that many believe to be a useless monument to racism – doesn’t really scream fiscal conservative.
But, not surprisingly, Dillard isn’t apologizing or deleting the offensive post. And, chances are, we will continue to hear his political opinions and “jokes.”
New episodes of Counting On – without Derick Dillard or his wife, Jill Duggar – will return to TLC later this summer.
