Performers get sick too! Vocal powerhouse Demi Lovato decided to go sing through her album release performance while she was suffering from an illness. During the set, the singer’s voice cracked prompting her to explain what was going on in an interview with Elvis Duran.
During her time on stage, Demi was draped in an orange oversized chain set with a half and half ponytail. She sang her the hits from her new album and when she got to the song “Stone Cold” her voice went completely out.
The 25-year-old was already feeling under the weather to begin with so it’s not a surprise that she was struggling. For the sake of her fans. the pop star continued with the song.
After the incident at the event that was thrown by IHeartRadio in New York, Demi made a lighthearted joke by telling Duran: “That’s what we call not lip-syncing.”
Although the joke seemed to be aimed to herself, some social media users took it as shade toward Britney Spears, who has been accused of lip-syncing multiple times.
“Demi deffffff shaded Britney just now even though her voice just cracked during a live broadcast,” tweeted one Twitter user.
“LOVATO IS THE BACKHANDED SHADE QWEEEEN LOL #BRITNEYCOULDNEVER #DEMISINGSLIVE,” tweeted another.
Later on, Demi took to her own page to thank her fans for bearing with her during the situation.
“Even when I lose my voice on stage my fans know how to keep me from being down.. thank you my Lovatics I love you,” Lovato said.
The Disney alum is currently celebrating the release of her album titled “Tell Me You Love Me” and the success of its single “Sorry Not Sorry.”
Do you think the singer was intentionally shading Britney Spears? Do you think people are making this more than it needs to be?
