Wedding bells are ringing for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, according to OK! Magazine. The tabloid is reporting that the couple tied the knot during the holidays in a country-style shindig. Did the couple really say “I do” in a small ceremony in Stefani’s backyard?
The publication claims that Shelton and Stefani exchanged vows just days before Christmas in front of a small group of 27 friends behind Stefani’s Los Angeles home in a ceremony that only cost $23,000. They claim the reception featured a country band, barbecue, and square dancing.
Shelton was allegedly on the grill, cooking up chicken, ribs, and corn on the cob and the wedding cake was from one of Stefani’s favorite local bakeries.
Instead of a designer gown, Stefani wore a simple, light-colored dress, while Shelton kept it casual with jeans and a button-down shirt. And, the couple also included Stefani’s sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo by making them Shelton’s best men.
But, rumor-debunking website Gossip Cop says there is absolutely no truth to the story that the singers had a secret wedding. Stefani’s rep told the site that the wedding claims were “untrue.”
It also points out that OK! has published false stories in the past, including one claiming Stefani and Shelton married last summer and another in July that they were expecting twins.
There was also apparent deception on the cover, with the publication claiming that his “mom tells all,” but that simply wasn’t the case. The country superstar’s mom didn’t speak to OK!, instead they featured a quote from a “surrogate mom who helped raise him.” Plus, her remarks do not confirm that Shelton and Stefani got married.
Shelton made it clear in November that the couple wasn’t close to making wedding plans, despite being together for over two years. But, he jokingly added in the radio interview, “What the hell, if you pick up the latest tabloids, we’ve been married for a while, anyway.”
They may not have tied the knot during the holidays, but Shelton, Stefani, and her boys did have fun during the Christmas season. According to Taste of Country, Stefani shared a video on Instagram of her boys running through a wall made of wrapping paper to get into the room that held their Christmas presents.
The first gift reminded 3-year-old Apollo of their time in Oklahoma. The kid-size Realtree camo-print John Deere Gator prompted Kingston to shout “Oh my gosh, Apollo, look! This is your car!” To which Apollo replied, “Oklahoma!”
We don’t know what Stefani got Shelton for Christmas, but she did reveal during a recent Tonight Show appearance that he is difficult to buy for.
“I think that because he doesn’t fit into any furniture in my house — because he’s too big — I’m getting him a couch,” she told Jimmy Fallon. “That’s going to be his Christmas present. I’m putting it outside because he likes to make fires and things like that. I try to make him feel comfortable in L.A.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani document so much of their relationship on social media, you would think they would let their fans know if and when they take the next step.
