Derick Dillard can apparently do whatever he wants now that TLC gave him the boot. Dillard was fired from Counting On because of his controversial tweets about Jazz Jennings, a transgender star on TLC, but that didn’t stop Dillard from attacking members of the LGBTQ community once again. How did Counting On fans respond to Dillard’s latest bigoted tweets?
According to The Hollywood Gossip, Dillard shared a video that showed Laura Jane Grace, a transgender singer, teaching small children about gender. Dillard wrote that Grace’s actions were the same as child abuse and that kids shouldn’t be taught about gender identity at such a young age. Unfortunately for Dillard, some fans quickly fired back and slammed the former reality star for his comments.
Many fans criticized Dillard for equating the video to child abuse. Some even dragged Dillard’s brother-in-law, Josh Duggar, into the mix and said he should probably ask Josh what child abuse really means.

Others vowed to unfollow Dillard and stop watching Counting On for good. While most of the responses were negative, Dillard did receive some support for his beliefs. One fan even thanked Dillard for sharing the video and thought he was absolutely correct in saying that it was child abuse.
Derick Dillard first started posting about the transgender community this summer. Things got particularly heated between Dillard and Jazz Jennings, who also has a show on TLC. In August, Dillard slammed Jennings’ show and called being transgender a myth.
Dillard also wrote that gender is not a choice and that it is something God ordains at birth. In response, Jennings told fans that she is used to cyberbullying and that it will not keep her from telling her story.

But Dillard’s battle with Jennings was far from over. This past November, Dillard slammed Jennings a second time for promoting transgender people on her show. Dillard said that he pities Jennings and that children should not be exposed to gender issues at such a young age. Unfortunately for Dillard, the post was the final straw for the network.
Shortly after Dillard’s post about Jennings, Fox News reports that TLC issued a statement about his future on Counting On. The network assured viewers that it does not agree with Dillard’s statements and that he will no longer be a part of the Duggar family’s show.
TLC also praised Jennings for telling her story and told fans that her show will continue. In response, Dillard posted a quote from Phil Robertson, the conservative patriarch from the show Duck Dynasty, about having convictions and disagreeing with other people’s lifestyle.
TLC has not responded to Dillard’s latest comment about transgender people. The network has made it clear that it wants nothing to do with Dillard, though his latest tweets could have an effect on Counting On ratings moving forward. After all, Derick Dillard’s wife, Jill Duggar, is presumably still on the show and fans are clearly sick and tired of his bigoted rants.
