While many people found Rodman’s tweet surprising, it was what he said next that really had people talking.
It’s no surprise that many people view President Trump and Kim Jong Un as having a volatile relationship. President Trump has referred to Kim Jong Un as “Rocket Man” and Kim Jong Un has questioned President Trump’s intelligence and mental reasoning.
Still, Dennis Rodman seems confident that both men are capable of making peace. He also said that President Trump is the “perfect leader” to initiate peace between the two countries.

Please don’t take what I’ve said out of context. I am friends w/ both @realDonaldTrump & Kim Jong Un and I believe in a positive future between us and North Korea. President Trump is the perfect leader for the job! I am sending love out to both & strongly believe both want PEACE

Though Dennis prefaced his remarks by asking people not to take them out of context it appears that most people weren’t understanding or agreeing with his position. While many people addressed the remarks made on Twitter some were more curious as to how Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong Un became friends in the first place.
Though the question was asked, Rodman didn’t answer it in his Twitter thread.
One comment compared his comment with acid flashbacks.
This tweet feels like what I think an acid flashback would be like.

The acid remark sparked a threat of comments where people stated they would rather take acid than deal with the reality that Dennis Rodman might be responsible for bringing peace to North Korea and the United States.
While some agreed that President Trump could help bring peace since he isn’t a career politician, others shared Gifs and memes expressing dismay, shock, and disapproval.

Some said that the situation with North Korea is so serious we should be open to any method possible in order to prevent catastrophic war. While Dennis Rodman had many detractors, there were others who encouraged him to do whatever it took in order to bridge the differences between the two countries.
