On July 24th at 4 AM, Demi Lovato had a brush with death after she texted her drug dealer and asked him to come to her house. What happened next nearly cost Lovato her life, and she is lucky to be alive.
According to TMZ, Lovato attended a birthday party for her backup singer and bestie Dani Vitale at Saddle Ranch on the Sunset Strip on the night of July 23rd. Later, she went to a party in WeHo. When she got home, she sent the text, and her drug dealer showed up. Then, the two proceeded to freebase Oxycodone on tin foil.
What Lovato didn’t know was that her dealer — who she had been using since April — had the habit of buying dirty drugs from Mexico, and the Oxycodone was apparently laced with fentanyl, which is the same drug that killed Prince in 2016 due to an accidental overdose.

When Lovato’s dealer noticed that she was breathing very heavily, he immediately left.
A member of Lovato’s staff found her at 11:30 AM on the 24th and the singer had to be revived with Narcan — a nasal spray used in an emergency to treat a suspected opioid overdose. First responders rushed her to Cedars Sinai hospital where she remained for two weeks before entering an out-of-state rehab center.
Last week, Lovato and her mom went to Chicago for a few days to see an addiction specialist.
As for the man who showed up at Lovato’s home with drugs, his name is Brandon Johnson, and he has had numerous run-ins with the law. Just one month before he started selling drugs to Lovato, police arrested him in a huge drug bust.

According to law enforcement, back in March, they found Johnson in North Hollywood with narcotics, a fully-loaded semi-automatic handgun, and $10,000 cash in his pocket. Then, when they went to search his home, they found more guns, ammo, and drugs.
Police also arrested Johnson in June and charged him with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and cocaine possession.
Insiders say that Johnson has been telling his friends that he and Lovato were in a “romantic relationship,” but other sources say there is nothing romantic going on between the two. He also denies “dealing” Demi Lovato drugs.
The district attorney has not yet charged Johnson for his March arrest.
