According to some new reports, before her alleged heroin overdose, Demi Lovato was in a really dark place and distancing herself from her friends and family. As you may already know, the singer was taken to the hospital by an ambulance called at her house today.
Apparently, she had suffered a drug overdose, but Demi is reportedly ‘stable and alert’ now.
TMZ was the first to report that the 25-year-old overdosed on heroin which is unfortunately not very surprising considering she opened up about her relapse after six years of being sober not too long ago.
One source close to Demi told ET that ‘Demi has a long history with drug and alcohol abuse. It was never ‘just once’ for Demi. She has a lot of demons. She’s been struggling for a long time. Slowly people she cared about started to drift away from her, because it was an unhealthy situation to be around. People stopped wanting to work with her, and she pushed away the people who actually had her very best interest in mind. She is just not in a good place.’
Another insider also claims the star has been staying up all night a lot and going out to clubs too often to be healthy and everyone was really worried about her.
Friends started noticing her ‘dark circles’, and at first, they just assumed she wasn’t really sleeping or eating right as Demi has struggled with such issues in the past as well.
However, at some point, they accepted there might be something much worse going on with her.
Supposedly, she has also been hanging out with the wrong people who use drugs and so, her downward spiral after six years of sobriety was triggered.
The source added that ‘Her closest friends have reached out to her, but one has been able to get her to listen. Demi admitted to friends she was doing too much, but she blamed her behavior on her work.’
