Demi Lovato is totally not impressed by Time magazine naming sexual abuse victims ‘Person of the Year’ while also giving the runner-up prize to none other than out pu**y grabbing president Donald Trump! That being said, the singer could not help but start some beef with the publication. Here’s what she had to say!
As you may be aware, Time magazine gave their 2017 POTY honor to ‘Silence Breakers’ – the many brave sexual harassment or assault victims from every work field who opened up about what they went through dealing with people using their power over them.
Meanwhile, their number 2 on the list was Donald Trump who is notorious for his poor treatment of women.
Demi Lovato is fuming that a man who has bragged about sexual harassment would be the runner us to the victims.
‘Time magazine highlights brave women coming forward against sexual assault but names a man with sexual assault allegations against him runner-up for person of the year…Really @TIME? #hypocrites,’ Lovato tweeted.
The superstar has explained that despite trying her best to stay away from the very divisive political climate this year, she was so shocked she just had to say something!
‘I have become less vocal about my disdain for certain people over the past year because it only divides our country even more, but this is worth speaking up about. @TIME magazine – very disappointed in your hypocrisy and disrespect toward the women on your cover.’
‘To be named Person of the Year by @TIME should be for doing something positive or brave LIKE the women on the cover. It is annoying that it is just about the impact on the news,’ Demi added.
Do you agree with the singer or you think the magazine is not at fault as it only chose the most influential people regardless if in a good or a bad way?
