After her release from the hospital, Demi Lovato has checked into a rehabilitation clinic. As it was previously reported, the 25-year-old singer updated her fans on Instagram yesterday, August 5th, and revealed she needed to take some time to focus on her “sobriety and road to recovery.”
According to a report from TMZ and Just Jared, on Saturday, medical professionals released her from the hospital, and the star took a private plane to the facility, which is not far outside of California.
Reportedly, Demi’s team encouraged her to get rid of negative and potentially corrupting influences, and instead, surround herself with people who are actively helping her get better.
More importantly, her team wants her far away from drugs. As fans of the singer know, Demi overdosed on opioids two weeks ago after hanging out with her friends.
TMZ reported that the “Sorry, Not Sorry” singer was rushed to the hospital by paramedics after her friends called the ambulance. Her friends found her unresponsive in her room on the 24th of July.
This all comes after she released a song called “Sober” last month, which revealed she had failed to stay away from drugs and alcohol following six years of sobriety.
In a number of different interviews, Demi spoke candidly about her struggles with both mental health problems as well as substance abuse.
The star explained that her father, as well, suffered from drug addiction his entire life. In one interview, Lovato stated she never could figure out why her father preferred to take drugs, rather than look after his family.
Either way, Demi’s battle with drugs – and her honesty about it – has afforded her a solid and loyal fanbase, who relate to her on a very personal level. When it was discovered she had overdosed, a plethora of fans commented on her Instagram, revealing their own personal battles.
