According to new reports, it looks like Bill Cosby’s legal team no longer has one local defense attorney! On Friday, Philadelphia based lawyer Samuel Silver allegedly filed a motion through which he requested that he is no longer involved with the controversial man’s case.
At this point in time, we are not aware of the reason why Silver decided to drop the case.
In fact, it sounds like the Philadelphia attorney himself did not give any explanation as to why he is snubbing Bill Cosby.
Silver’s decision comes with some consequences, one the most important being that, according to Pa. Bar Association rules, in order for Bill Cosby’s legal team to practice in Philadelphia, a different lawyer will have to take over and sponsor the rest of the lawyers dealing with the case.
Silver, however, assured everyone that his departure would not be affecting the legal process in any way.
Now Coby’s legal team is made of Los Angeles based attorney Tom Mesereau, and Kathleen Bliss of Las Vegas.
In addition, two new additions to the team are Jason Hicks, also from Vegas and an associate of Bliss, and Becky James – a member of the California Bar Association.
As you probably are aware, Bill Cosby was accused by Andrea Constand of drugging and then raping her back in 2004.
Of course, many more women have alleged similar crimes against them by the man, but the current case deals with Constand’s accusations in particular.
The man’s very first trial ended in a hung jury while his second is set to take place on April 2nd.
Are you surprised to learn an attorney for the defense left Bill Cosby’s side? What do you think was the motivation behind that decision?
