Comedian Dave Chappelle defended Donald Trump while going off Hillary Clinton during a stand-up session in New York on Friday.
Chappelle not only defended Trump’s disgusting words leaked not too long ago, in which he objectified women but also put the blame on Hillary for the fact that they were ultimately made public. That makes zero sense and is also not funny.
His words were: “What I heard on that tape was gross. But the way I got to hear it was even more gross. You know that came directly from Hillary.”
Does that even matter? But there’s more, he even argued that what we all heard on the takes cannot be considered sexual assault.
“Sexual assault? It wasn’t. He said, ‘And when you’re a star, they let you do it.’ That phrase implies consent. I just don’t like the way the media twisted that whole thing. Nobody questioned it.”
From what we know, Chappelle has already cast his vote in favor of Hillary Clinton, so why did he spend so much time of his performance defending Trump and blaming Hillary?
“Something about this was backward. A gay white man and a white woman asking a multibillionaire how he knows the system is rigged and insisting it’s not. Does that sound right to you? It didn’t seem right to me. And here’s how you know Trump is the most gangsta candidate ever. They asked him how he knows the system is rigged and he said, ‘Because I take advantage of it.’ He may as well have flashed his membership card for the Illuminati right then.”
The comedian went deeper in the whole issue and spoke about women and LGBT rights as if these fore mentioned issues were nothing compared to the racial problems in America. He overtly criticized activists, saying: “They should not be having that conversation in front of black people. You go ahead and feel something about your rights. But if you’re putting sexism and homophobia and transphobia in front of racism, you should be ashamed of yourself.”
It shocks me that he considers people have to take sides when it comes to human rights. You can advocate for positive change no matter what kind, preferably an overall improvement for all issues.
With all of this being said, some people on Twitter came to his defense, saying that all of these comments were taken out of context. Besides, there is no way to confirm anything considering recording devices were not allowed at the show. With no actual proof in sight we are free to believe whatever we want.
