Craig Sager Jr. talked about his relationship with his late father, the great Craig Sager, and confirmed, it was not easy for him to have a celebrity father. Craig Sager, a sports reporter who brought joy to millions on CNN and its sister stations, passed away on December 15, 2016. He died after a long battle with cancer.
Craig Sager’s son has admitted that being the son of a legendary NBA reporter was pretty frustrating growing up, but he finally got the relationship he wanted thanks to the book both Sager’s co-wrote before Sager Sr. passed away.
He stated that working on this book is what he had been looking for with his dad for his entire life, in terms of a relationship. It was difficult having a relationship with someone who was always on the go. It was hard having time with someone who was always around people commented Sager Jr.
He also stated that he wanted to learn everything he could from his father cause his father had unique qualities that made him who he was, and that he respected him immensely. Writing the book provided him time to talk to his father, and develop a relationship – which he now believes he took full advantage of.
It’s a very emotional personal account of what it’s like to have a celebrity parent, but happily, it had a great ending. BTW, the book is called “Living Out Loud: Sports, Cancer, and the Things Worth Fighting For.” I’ve read a little of it, and it is a very deep and insightful look into the life of the legendary Craig Sager Sr.
Rest in peace Craig sager Sr. You’ll never be forgotten!
