The Joy-Anna Duggar shotgun wedding rumors refuse to die. But until the truth comes out, fans will continue to theorize about why she moved her wedding date up five months and why her baby bump is bigger than many think it should be.
When Duggar and her husband, Austin Forsyth, originally moved their October wedding to May, fans didn’t think much of it because everyone was excited about another Duggar wedding. And, as Romper reports, when the couple announced just three months later that they were expecting, no one thought it was unusual. Pregnancies right after weddings are common in Duggar world.
But when Duggar posted a pic of her baby bump on October 2nd, the rumors of a shotgun wedding started to fly. It was only 18 weeks after her wedding, but Duggar looked farther along, and when she wrote that she had felt the baby kick, fans immediately started to question if she got pregnant before her wedding day.

Every pregnancy is different, but according to WebMD, most first-time mothers don’t feel their baby kick until closer to 25 weeks, but it is possible to feel it as early as 16 weeks.
And, in a wedding photo from September 18th, where Joy-Anna Duggar was a bridesmaid, she looked a lot farther along than four months, with fans thinking she looked closer to six months along.
So, the controversy surrounding the pregnancy continues. According to Christian Today, speculation is that Duggar is due at the end of February or first of March, exactly nine months after her May 26th wedding. If that baby comes any earlier, it will send the pre-wedding pregnancy speculation into overdrive.
Anyone who is remotely familiar with the Duggar family knows that a sex before marriage scandal would rock their world. The family is known for chaperoned dates during courting, plus no physical contact before getting engaged (except the famous side hug).
Per In Touch Weekly, fans have taken to Reddit to use math to calculate Duggar’s date of conception, based on clues from her social media posts. One fan noted that on her first post, at around 12 weeks, she mentioned brain waves and fingerprints, but a fetus doesn’t develop those things until around 25 to 26 weeks.
Another user came to her rescue, defending her by saying that she is just a 19-year-old kid thrust into the world of marriage, sex, and kids and probably has zero understanding of the stages of pregnancy and fetal development.
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth have not commented on the shotgun wedding rumors.
