Counting On star Josiah Duggar is in love, and he doesn’t care who knows it. The 21-year-old is currently courting Lauren Swanson, and he continues to remind his fans on social media that he has strong feelings. He can’t even physically handle being away from her, so do this mean he is ready to pop the question?
The couple has been incredibly close since announcing their courtship last month, and the hugging, hand-holding, and almost-kissing they are sharing on Instagram could be an indication that an engagement could be just around the corner.
These two have been friends for many years, and they haven’t been near as reserved as some of Duggar’s siblings were during their courtships. Instead, they have not been shy with the PDA, and since Duggar courtships are notoriously short and quickly transition to an engagement, fans won’t be shocked if a big announcement comes soon.
Duggar and Swanson announced their courtship in late January, and in the statement, Duggar said he found a great friend and appreciated Swanson’s Christ-like character and tender heart.
“It’s truly an exciting time for us, as we take this big step in establishing a relationship, getting to know one another even better and praying together towards our future,” said the young couple.
Duggar recently shared a screenshot of a Facetime date he had with Swanson, and even though it seemed innocent enough, the fact that there was no chaperone in sight got fans asking a lot of questions.
The Duggar family has extremely strict courtship rules, including no kissing, no hand holding, no front hugs, and – most importantly – no unchaperoned dates. On top of that Jim Bob and Michelle also monitor all calls and text messages between courting couples.
Since Duggar and Swanson’s Facetime date seemed to lack a chaperone, fans are wondering if the couple is doing their own thing and breaking the rules.
When they were vacationing in Australia and New Zealand, the two shared quite a few photos of themselves getting a lot closer than other courting couples.
Duggar and Swanson have been inseparable since they took their friendship to the next level, and in the myriad of photos he has posted since they started courting, he has captioned them with words like “no place I’d rather be #withyou,” and “I’m really enjoying the beauty of New Zealand. Oh, and the landscape is pretty nice too, I guess. #my girl #lauren.”
Fans will get the chance to see the young couple in the new season of Counting On, which premieres Monday, February 26th on TLC.
