‘Counting On’ Star John David Duggar Take Issue With His Family In This One Major Way

John David Duggar, the second-oldest son in the famous reality TV family who stars in Counting On, keeps a relatively low-profile compared to many of his sisters and brothers because he seems pretty uninterested in the spotlight.
Fans have always assumed that John David has other interests and ventures to pursue – including enjoying his time as a pilot, plus his job in construction and maintenance on his dad’s properties. He is also a volunteer with the local police and fire departments, so he doesn’t really have the time. But, could there be another reason John David stays away from the family’s media empire?
According to The Hollywood Gossip, John David is not a fan of his parents’ thirst for fame, and he doesn’t approve of all of the effort the family puts into being on camera – no matter if it’s for TV or online.
Sources say that John David has emerged as the family’s moral compass, and when he distances himself from his parents, that is a big deal.
“When John David doesn’t want to be a part of it, then you know that it ain’t right,” says an insider.
The source goes on to say that John David is a good guy and is in a good spot in life because he gets to do what he wants. And, one of the things he wants is distance from his dad’s worldly impulses. The insider says that there is some friction between the two men and there are things that Jim Bob does that John David doesn’t think is right.
Apparently, the 28-year-old doesn’t think his dad needs all of the stuff he buys, like real estate and equipment. There have been reports in the past that Jim Bob is a “high-class hoarder,” and can be reckless with the family’s finances.
John David is reportedly worried that his dad’s spending could put the family in debt. He is tired of Jim Bob coming home from an auction with a $4,000 bucket truck that needs $8,000 worth of work.

But, their conflict isn’t limited to finances. Jim Bob also seemingly has a problem with the fact he no longer has “ultimate control” over John David, and that just kills him.
As for John David Duggar’s personal life, there have been rumors that he is courting and could possibly introduce his new lady in future episodes of Counting On. But, considering his opposition to the family’s love of the spotlight, he might just keep the relationship out of the public eye.
New episodes of Counting On will return later this summer on TLC.
